Defined career paths from entry level to business leader

Earn whilst you learn with a Degree Apprenticeship

No university fees

Choose from Operations, Commercial or Technical career paths

Opportunities across England

Earn as you learn

Why go to university and accumulate debt from fees?

On the Trainee Manager Programme you will earn a competitive salary whilst developing professionally and personally. We have partnered with Nottingham Trent University to deliver a Level 6 Chartered Management Degree apprenticeship, which will shape you into a well-rounded, experienced business leader of the future.

From personal development to operational strategy, ethical governance to negotiation and influencing – this degree will set you up for a bright future.

We'll help you reach the top

Whichever career path you choose, you will have access to our award-winning development framework ‘Grow with Greencore’. This provides online, mobile-enabled access to a huge range of learning materials… from induction onwards you’ll have access to what you need, when you need it, in the way you learn best!

Your development will be structured to ensure you progress both in your role and academically, with the right people around you on that journey: your line manager, buddies, and a mentor, to help you learn and stretch to reach your full potential.

More to food than you think

At Greencore we put people at the core of our business, and offer a range of benefits to enhance our colleagues’ lifestyles.

From our pension scheme to ShareSave initiatives, we can also offer Cycle 2 Work, and a wide range of discounts at retail stores, travel and attractions for fun days out.

So you get to balance how hard you work, with how hard you play!

So, does this sound like you?

Are you hungry to learn and develop, both personally and professionally in a dynamic and challenging industry?

Are you driven to succeed and do you have the discipline to work hard to get there?

If it’s a ‘yes’ – we would love to hear from you!

To join our team in September 2019, apply for our Trainee Manager Programme from 5th November 2018.

What will happen when you apply?

  • Online application and strengths assessment

You will complete an online application form, for which you should expect the following sections: Personal details, education, work experience, programme preference, and diversity & inclusion data. Some questions within this section will determine whether you move onto the next stage, i.e. whether you meet the minimum eligibility criteria.

Once this part is complete, you’ll complete a strengths assessment. This is all online, you don’t need anything other than yourself to complete it. You’ll get plenty of instructions to guide you through it – and it’s not timed, so you can go at your own pace.

If you don’t make it through this round, you will receive a feedback report on your strengths assessment which will be useful, we hope, for your own ongoing development.

  • Telephone Interview

If you’re successful in the online stage, you’ll be invited to a telephone interview. This will be conducted by our partners Capp & Co Ltd, who are experts in strengths assessment, and they will take you through 8 questions.

Like the online assessment, this is all about your strengths, so there isn’t a lot of preparation to do. Most importantly – try to relax and be yourself!

  • Assessment Centre

Our Assessment Centres will take place at selected central locations, at our very own Greencore sites. A team of assessors will guide you through a number of tasks that will help us understand your fit with the programme, the 3 different career paths and The Greencore Way.

You will be fully briefed on your preparation for the Assessment Centre by the Capp team. As a minimum you will prepare and deliver a presentation, but there will be other activities too.

If you are a college leaver, the Assessment Centres will be scheduled in January 2019.

If you are not a college leaver, they will be scheduled in March 2019.

  • Site / Team Visit

After Assessment Centres, we often find it makes sense for high-potential candidates to visit the site where we would place them. Sometimes this is about seeing the site, the environment and the operations that happen there. Sometimes it’s about meeting the team. But it is always about making sure that you can see exactly where you’d be: this has to be as right for you as it is for us.

If this all goes well, we will make you an offer subject to your successful enrolment on the degree apprenticeship with Nottingham Trent University…

  • University Enrolment & Interview

By this stage, we will know that you’re right for us. The next step is to confirm that you’re a good candidate for the degree.

This step will involve you completing Nottingham Trent University’s application form, followed by a short written assignment of 500 words.

You will then meet the Course Leader for an interview based on the assignment. This can be face to face on campus in Nottingham, or by telephone or Skype. We’ll work out the best option when the time comes.

Once you’re accepted onto the programme, we will issue your formal written offer, terms and conditions of employment with Greencore.

  • September 2020 - join the team!

In the time before you start, we’ll keep in touch and make sure you get the opportunity to meet up with your line manager and if possible your team. We’ll also send you snippets of information that we think will be useful for you.

And after what we hope will be another fantastic summer, you’ll join the team!

Your induction period will start with the launch event, where you will meet your fellow Trainees and people from Nottingham Trent University.

Registering your interest...

The degree programme is funded by the Apprenticeship Levy, so you will need to prove you have Level 2 English, Maths and ICT to be eligible for this programme. If you don’t have these certificates or you gained formal education abroad, you will need to complete an assessment later in the process.

You will also need to have the right to work in the UK.

In your application please provide details about your previous qualifications and experience. If you are a college leaver, we will require a minimum of 120 UCAS points (attained or predicted).

To apply for the final round of roles in Operations for our Bristol site, you can do so by following the link below…

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
