Our Commercial programme will provide you with a breadth of experience in the initial 2-3 years across Sales and Category (Marketing). Your early roles will help you to appreciate the broad functionality of Commercial and to work out which area you’d want to focus on in your career. The timescales of each move will be flexible and depend on how your overall development progress.
This is a 4 year career progression route aligned to the duration of the Chartered Management Degree programme with Nottingham Trent University
The Working Environment
Typical working hours in Commercial are Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00. You will be based in an office at one of our manufacturing sites, giving you access to key contacts on the Operations side of the business. You will also visit customers at their premises and undertake store visits, which will involve some travel.
Opportunities will be available in different locations across England – we will be able to confirm precise locations later this year.
Over the course of the programme, opportunities to grow your career may mean working at different sites across the UK.
You will attend university in Nottingham Trent University’s City Centre campus – this will be an average of 2 days per month, on weekdays
The degree programme is funded by the Apprenticeship Levy, so you will need to prove you have Level 2 English, Maths and ICT to be eligible for this programme.
You will need to have the right to work in the UK.
In your application please provide your previous qualifications and experience. If you are a college leaver, we will require minimum 120 UCAS points (attained or predicted).
Your Potential Career Path
Rotations (2-3 years)
Category Executive - You’ll collate and analyse customer and consumer data into reports which inform how we generate actionable insight, and support the wider marketing team.
Business Executive (Sales) - This is a key support role for our Business Account Managers in day-to-day management of our customer accounts, and helping us to assure the delivery of sustained profitable growth for a specific customer base.
Category Manager (Year 4)
As a Category Manager, you will follow the category management process in Greencore and utilise customer and category insight to make strategic recommendations with action plans to improve category performance.
Critically, you’ll be a trusted advisor to our customer base, managing those ongoing relationships – meanwhile, you’ll build extensive networks internally and into store operations to speed decision-making and implement actions.
Business Account Manager (Year 4)
You’ll be expected to develop and deliver sustained profitable growth for a specific customer base, through robust customer account planning, promotional plans.
This cannot be done without building market and competitor knowledge, to help us maintain close working relationships with our key customers and meet both their needs – and bringing that into our Product Development and manufacturing activities on site.
